Dorianne Cara Weil is a Clinical and Organizational Psychologist with over 30 years in hospital, private and corporate practice.
“Dr. D” is a household name in South Africa. A recognised voice for many years, she is renowned as SA’s leading media psychologist. As the resident psychologist on Talk Radio 702/Cape Talk, for 26 years followed by Classic FM and Chai FM her radio shows deal with any and every life challenging and self development topic.
Dori appears and is quoted regularly in print and electronic media. She was the regular psychologist for SABC 3Talk and numerous TV appearances including; “CNN International” and “NBC” have endeared her at home and abroad. Her own TV series – Positive Leap – reached number one. She is regularly appointed for comment on current issues and was the expert psychologist on the Oscar Pistorius trial.
Her work in industry includes mediation, executive coaching and workshop facilitation concerned with the creation of “Cholesterol Free Companies” and creating an internal morale and support system. Clients include most of the top listed companies in South Africa, including Anglo American, South African Breweries, Sasol, Investec, Vodacom and a host of others.
Known as a dynamic, knowledgeable and life changing speaker. She has addressed audiences and facilitated groups in 54 countries, including India, Russia, most European countries and the USA.
Dori has received recognition for outstanding contribution to the betterment of the lives of people and South African society. In 2008, she was awarded SA’s Most Influential Women Lifetime Achiever, in Business and Government (CEO Magazine) and in June 2009 was the winner of the ABSA Jewish Achiever Cyril Harris Humanitarian award. She is the recipient of several other awards including the International Rotary Paul Harris award and is a Trustee for the Tomorrow Trust, educating aids orphans. Other contributions include the development of emotional intelligence programmes utilised in South African schools and Majors for Minors CDs focusing on brain food for kids.
No stranger to YPO, Dori has been an Education and Forum resource for 25 years and addressed Chapters, Area Conferences and Universities and facilitated Forum training groups all over the world. She is the only Certified Transformational Forum Facilitator in Africa.
Dori has held several portfolios, locally, regionally and internationally. In 2010/11 she was the WPO Education Chair and the recipient of Best of the Best Education Award. She was both the WPO Johannesburg Forum Chairman and the Regional Forum Officer Africa 2011/13. She is the incoming WPO Regional Chair Youth and Family 2013/15, as well as the Africa representative for the Business Professional Spouse Partner Network.
She is an animatrix, a story teller, a passionate and compassionate life participant who enjoys interior design, exciting cooking, music and art. She is married and considers her greatest achievement to be the mother of 19 year old twins – Dean Harrison and Jemma-Claire.
